My artistic career started in 2009 with the completion of a Foundation Diploma in Art & Design at West Kent College, Tonbridge. Three years later in 2012 I graduated from the University of Arts’ London (London College of Printing and Publishing) with a first class honours degree in Book Art & Design and in 2018 graduated (with Merit) a postgraduate degree in History & Philosophy of Art from the University of Kent. Having started my creative journey in book arts, I am now a full-time studio based painter focusing on figurative and narrative paintings.

Colour and an expressive style of brushwork dominates my work and I consider my art to be an apprenticeship of sorts, constantly moving forward to keep my work fresh and relevant. Everyday observations, interiors, lyrics, poetry and photos, inform my work. One of my main inspirations derive from the mid-20th century abstract expressionists in the San Francisco Bay Area whose paintings had an amazing looseness, gesture and clever use of colour. Japanese lifestyle inspires me too - its heritage and culture - so any sense of serenity found in my works is probably due to this influence.

Between 2014-2022 I studied independently with Lewes based artists Nicola Maxwell-Gumbleton (St Andrews Art School), Camilla Cannon (New School of Art), New English Art Club member, Andrew James and Philadelphia based fine artist Martin Campos (Pennsylvania School of Fine Arts)

My work has featured in the World of Interiors magazine and is held in many UK & overseas private collections.
